We are delighted to announce the OpenSceneGraph-2.0 stable release. OpenSceneGraph-2.0 improves ease of use and scalability, introducing new osgViewer, osgShadow and osgManipulator libraries, new build system, improved multi-core, multi-GPU support.

Skew-Matrix and Blue-Newt Software have announced collaboration on a series of OpenSceneGraph books and training course. The first books available immediately are the OpenSceneGraph Quick Start Guide and OpenSceneGraph Reference Manuals and are up to date with the latest OpenSceneGraph-2.0 release. OpenSceneGraph-1.9.5 most significant change is support for version of libraries (under unices) and plugins (under all platforms) to help problems when mixing multiple versions of the OpenSceneGraph on one machine. OpenSceneGraph-1.9.3 most significant change was the integration of OpenThreads? source code directly into core OpenSceneGraph distribution, this means you can remove previous external build of OpenThreads?, as the OpenSceneGraph is now self sufficient! [Image(htdocs:imgs/osglogo2.0.png)] 13th February 2007 [BR] Server migrationWe have begun migrating openscenegaph.org to a new server hosted at Universidad Politécnica de Valencia' (www.upv.es). So far we have moved the wiki website across (now running on openscenegraph.com), and migrated the version control system from CVS on the original server to Subversion on the new server. Next up is migration of mailing list. During migration we might see a few problems, please report them on the osg-users mailing list if you spot any and we'll endeavor to get them fixed as soon as possible.

The place for the training will be the site of Merlin Simulation (an OpenSceneGraph developer) at the Pan Am Academy building in Sterling, Va, very close to the Dulles Airport. [Image(htdocs:imgs/osglogo2.0.png)] 10 May, 2006[BR] Version 0.1 of osgHaptics released Initial release of the OpenSceneGraph Haptic Library (osgHaptics). This C++ library bring haptic (force feedback) rendering into OpenSceneGraph. It depends on the commercial low-level haptic library OpenHaptics?, which is also freely available for academic use from Sensable Inc. osgHaptics is developed at VRlab, Umeå University, Sweden.

The data shows the OpenSceneGraph is 5.6 times bigger and more active than the next biggest project OpenSG.
