With regard to the volume rendering of seismic data we are interested in non-photorealistic out-of-core technologies for very large data sets (multi-gigabyte). The maintenance of interactive frame rates is critical. Volume roaming, gradient shading, and on-the-fly iso-surface extraction are also of interest.

     16Ivan Macia <imacia[at]vicomtech.org> - Medical Imaging Software R&D from VICOMTech research centre, which is part of the INIGraphicsNet network. In the Biomedical Applications Group we develop medical imaging software for research or 3rd parties, both for clinical or educational purposes. Current projects that use volren include a PACS-DICOM viewer and a new project for a volren-based educational tool (not started). We have experience with ITK (segmentation) and some with VTK and DICOM. Regarding volren features we are interested in volren of large datasets (over 1000 slices) at interactive frame-rates, shading techniques, transfer functions (advanced TFs, automatic setting) and maybe some other things such as classification, illustrative volren and others. We may be interested too in some other application areas, such as weather doppler radar visualization.
